Jihlava Hospital has received a total of 20 new breathing monitors worth 60,000 CZK in total from the Křižovatka Foundation. The devices will be used at the Paediatric Department and will help keep the newborns and infants in the hospital's care safe. The monitors were accepted by the head of the department, MUDr. Martin Zimen.

“We greatly appreciate the support of the Křižovatka Foundation and of all the donors who took part in this project. Breathing monitors are an important part of the care for our youngest patients. They help healthcare staff monitor the regularity of newborns' breathing and give a timely warning of possible danger if a problem occurs. Every such device gives us another way to increase children's safety and, at the same time, to give their parents peace of mind,” says MUDr. Martin Zimen, head of the Paediatric Department.
The handover of the monitors is part of the Křižovatka Foundation's long-term project “Maminko, dýchám” (“Mummy, I'm breathing”), which aims to equip neonatal, paediatric and intensive care units in Czech hospitals with breathing monitors. The foundation also raises awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and supports the creation of loan points where parents can borrow a breathing monitor for use at home.
“We thank the Křižovatka Foundation for its long-term support and all the companies and individuals who decided to support this meaningful project. We truly appreciate that they care about the health and safety of the youngest ones,” adds MUDr. Martin Zimen. The hospital received the new breathing monitors thanks to financial support from Model Obaly, DEVILLE TPC Jihlava, LAGUS, GORDIC and ROLLCONTECH. In addition, Mr Jindřich Němec bought two devices with his own funds.
The Křižovatka Foundation has been operating in the Czech Republic for 31 years. During this time, it has helped equip neonatal and paediatric departments of hospitals with more than 13,600 breathing monitors with a total value exceeding 42 million CZK.
